EAST WENATCHEE, WA – April 20, 2020, the East Wenatchee Public Works Department has announced that the Highline Drive and 3rd Street SE Roundabout is set to begin construction on Thursday, April 23 and the Transportation Improvement Board Complete Streets projects is set to begin construction on Monday, April 27.

The Highline Drive and 3rd Street SE Roundabout project is going to start construction on April 23 and the estimated completion date is June 19. The intersection will be completely closed to traffic for three weeks, beginning April 27 and will remain closed through Friday, May 15. There will be two additional days, toward the end of the project, where the intersection will be closed while pavement markings are installed. The following image shows the detour that will be in place while the intersection is closed.

The Transportation Improvement Board (TIB) Complete Streets project is scheduled to start construction on April 27 and the estimated completion date is June 19. This project is located at three different sites. Site 1 consists of installing new sidewalk along the north side of 3rd Street NE, from the Wenatchee Reclamation District canal to approximately 150 ft east of N Georgia Ave. Site 2 is located at the N Georgia Ave/Grant Road intersection and consists of upgrading an existing pedestrian crosswalk. Finally, Site 3 is located at the N June Ave/Grant Road intersection and work consists of installing a new pedestrian crosswalk across Grant Road.

Site 1, 3rd Street NE, will have a complete 3rd Street NE westbound lane closure from 150 feet east of N Georgia Ave to the Wenatchee Reclamation District canal for approximately three weeks beginning Monday, April 27. A detour will be in place directing westbound 3rd Street NE traffic to southbound N Hanford Ave, westbound Grant Road, and then northbound Eastmont Ave (see detour plan below). Site 2 will require limited traffic control, which may include occasional, temporary, Grant Road lane shifts. Lastly, Site 3 will consist of various temporary Grant Road lane shift configurations that will change from time to time. The following image shows the Site 1 detour, which will be in effect from April 27 through May 15.

While driving through a construction zone, please remember to slow down, increase your following distance between other cars, follow instructions from flaggers and use extra caution. The health and safety of construction workers and our community members is extremely important to us, so let’s work together to make it a safe work zone for everyone.
